Some home purchases are quick. Some take a little longer. And then there’s Rocki’s story—a two-year journey filled with resilience, heart, and a whole lot of trust.
We met in February 2023 at an open house I was hosting in University Hills. Rocki walked in, signed in, and struck up a conversation. She was a first-time homebuyer, renting nearby, and hoping to find something in the area that would keep her close to work in DTC. We clicked right away.
Now, if you’ve ever hosted an open house, you know how rare it is for someone to actually respond after leaving their info. Most people sign in and disappear. But not Rocki. She followed up. And that’s when our search began.
Neither of us could have predicted how long the journey would be—or how many times we’d get close, only to have to start again.
We wrote offers on 14 different properties. We lost out to bidding wars, all-cash buyers, and sellers with unrealistic expectations. We went under contract three separate times, only to fall out for reasons completely out of our control—one home tested positive for meth, another had foundation issues so severe the only solution involved drilling down to bedrock. It felt like we were being tested at every turn.
At one point, Rocki told me she didn’t think buying a home was in the cards for her. And honestly, I wouldn’t have blamed her for walking away.
But she gave it one more shot in January of this year. And I knew—we had to land the plane.
That’s when we found the one. A beautiful home near Eisenhower Park that not only checked all the boxes, but came with a seller who was ready to work with us. We negotiated a tremendous deal—great pricing, strong concessions, and even secured inspection repairs that truly made the home move-in ready. It was, finally, the win she deserved.
And this time, it stuck.
Rocki is now officially a homeowner—and more importantly, she’s truly happy with where she landed.
She recently left this review on my Google Business page:
“Preston stuck with me through a two-year home search, and I’m so thankful for his patience and commitment throughout the process. It was a long journey with lots of ups and downs, and he stayed present and consistent the whole way. I really appreciated having someone I could count on during such a big decision. Grateful for his support and would absolutely recommend working with him!”
Rocki, I’m so proud of you. You stayed true to your goals, even when the process threw every obstacle your way. Thank you for trusting me through it all. You earned this.
Welcome home.
